Start Stellenbosch, warm up ride to Simonsberg nature reserve.
Start Stellenbosch; in the afternoon we have some free time to build up bikes and un pack before heading out for an introductory ride over the Hellshoogte pass and back to our accommodation for the evening. Cycle approx. 51km with 800m ascent
Ride the Bainskloof Pass; afternoon wine tasting in Bovlei.
After breakfast we get on the bikes and ride towards Wellington and over the Bainskloof pass. At the top we stop for a picnic lunch and have a chance to relax and swim in the Witriver before getting back on the bikes to cycle down to the Bovlei wine cellars. After an afternoon wine tasting we transfer back to Stellenbosch. Cycle approx. 93km with 1390m ascent
Cycle over Hellshoogte and the Franschoek pass towards Grabouw; transfer back to Stellenbosch.
Heading out of our accommodation we cycle over the Hellshoogte pass to warm up the legs as we make our way towards Franshoek. From here we cycle up and over the Franshoek pass with its stunning views and then continue on a back road to the impressive Three Waterkloof Dam and onto Grabouw. The last part of today’s ride is through the beautiful Hottentots-Holland Nature Reserve before getting in the vehicle to transfer back to our accommodation. Cycle approx. 95km with 1400m ascent
Transfer to Hermanus; cycle to Gordons Bay, transfer to Cape Town.
Today we ride one of the most spectacular roads in the world along the whale coast. Our day starts with a morning transfer to Hermanus where we get on the bikes at the old harbour and begin our ride along the coast towards Betties Bay and finally on to Gordons bay. Here we get in the vehicle to transfer the final part into Cape Town and to our overnight accommodation. Cycle approx. 80km with 800m ascent
Short ride to Hout Bay; afternoon race registration.
After breakfast at our hotel we can head out for a short ride down to Hout Bay and back. This ride follows another lovely coastal and if we are lucky we might see whales swimming just off the coast. Arriving back at our hotel we can freshen up before heading into Cape Town and to the Cape Argus competitor’s village to sign on and do some shopping at the event stalls. The afternoon is free to do any final adjustments to bikes and go out for dinner. Cycle approx. 36km with 700m ascent
Race day! Ride the Cape Argus cycle tour.
Today is the big day! Starting from the centre of Cape Town the cycle tour will take us along the M3 to Lakeside where we join Main Road. We continue through Muizenberg, Kalk Bay and Fish Hoek. From there we take the coastal road to Simonstown and then go past the entrance to the Cape Point Nature Reserve. We continue to Scarborough and Oceanview before getting to Chapman's Peak and up Suikerbossie, finally arriving at Green Point. In the afternoon we will have a big celebration back at our hotel.
