    Start Les Allues

Start at the hotel La Croix Jean Claude in Les Allues. Though connected to the vast Three Valleys ski area the village of les Allues still retains the charm of an alpine village and is relatively small by the standards of the area. There are a few restaurants, shops and bars; just enough to provide variety but not so many that the village is crowded with skiers and boarders in the eveninbs. There is a good network of regular shuttle buses to the other villages of the valley (Meribel village, Meribel centre, Meribel Mottaret, and Meribel Le haut).

Snowshoe towards the Adret forest to the Traie Hut (1650m).

We start directly from the hotel and snowshoe up towards the Adret forest. This itinerary is an excellent introduction to the area. Initially in forest, the view opens up quickly to offer great views over the Meribel Valley. Once at the hut there is time for a hot drink or a local tart.

Bus to Meribel, walk through the Fontany forest up to great views over the Tarentaise Valley.

After a short transfer by public bus to the Meribel Altiport we start walking in the Fontany forest. The forest is never too dense and the views of the Tarentaise Valley in the direction of Courchevel and Meribel are superb. After a short climb we will then enjoy the descent all the way down to the hotel.

Bus to Meribel-Mottaret for a walk in the Vanoise National Park.

After a transfer by public transport to Meribel Mottaret, we enter the Vanoise National Park. This is the first national park created in France and is a haven of peace and tranquillity away from the busy 3 valleys resorts. This is truly a high mountain experience. The ambiance of high mountain as we enter the fruit valley nestled between the Aiguille du Fruit (3048 m) and the Mont Vallon (2949 m). Ibex or Chamois roam here, and if we’re lucky we may spot some. On the way down the we stop for a drink in the famous ski resort of Meribel Mottaret.

Transfer up to Meribel Les Allues for a route all the way down the west side of the valley to the hotel.

A morning transfer to Meribel les Allues where we snowshoe along the ridge and all the way down to the hotel. Walking down on the west side of the valley, the view of the resort in the distance underlines a sense of remoteness. During the day we pass a number of traditional Savoyard chalets.
