Start in Les Fonts de Cervieres, France (approx 2hr30 from Turin). Our accommodation for the night is the Les Fonts de Cervieres mountain hut (2040m), located above Briancon and on the doorstep of the Queyras Regional Park. In the evening our leader will brief us on our trekking itinerary for the week ahead.
Enter the Queyras National Park by ascending the Malrif col. Follow GR58 track to Abries. Take short transfer to L'Echalp.
Today's walk takes us from the refuge of Les Fonts de Cervières (2040m) to the Malrif col (2866m) where we enter the famous Queyras National Park, a rural habitat recognised nationwide for its culture and countryside. We pass near Grand Glaiza (3286m) and then descend towards Abriès on the GR58 before taking a short transfer to L'Echalp, where we spend the night. Ascent: 919m Descent: 1417m Distance: 14km
Continue on GR58 through Bouchouse valley. After passing Lake Egorgedo follow track up Pic de Foreant (3081m). Descend to Agnel hut.
Today we carry on following the GR58 in the Bouchouse valley. After reaching Lake Egorgedo (2393m), we will follow a track that only locals know, all the way up to Pic de Foreant (3081m). This part of the walk is superb, with a great opportunities to spot a variety wildlife on the way. We enjoy the breathtaking view at the top of Monte Viso before descending to the Angel hut where we spend the night. Ascent: 1450m Descent: 543m Distance: 12km
Trek to Chamoussiere col. Leave the main track to summit Caramantran (3025m). Descend to Saint Veran.
We begin our walk from the Angel hut following the GR58, the official Tour du Queyras walking path, all the way up to the Chamoussiere col (2884m). At this point we leave the main track to climb the Caramantran summit (3025m) where we discover the Monte Viso (3841m) from a different angle with great views. From here we descend to Saint Veran following the old upper canal. Ascent: 600m Descent: 1200m Distance: 13km
Head downhill to Pont du Moulin before following balcony path with superb views to Ville Vieille.
During today we walk some sections off tracks offering superb views of the Aigue Blanche valley. We start the route by going downhill to the Pont du Moulin before climbing up to the Puy barns which is an old farmer's house. From here we head north following pretty meadow and animal tracks with a view of Saint Veran and Molines all the way to the 'Col des Pres Fromages'. It is a great place to observe chamois (a majestic deer-like animal). We then join wilder walking tracks in the larch tree forest to Ville Vielle (1400m) where we spend the night. Ascent: 800m Descent: 1400m Distance: 14km
Climb to the hamlets of Meyries and Souliers, continue through wild valley to rejoin GR58 to reach Col du Tronchet (2796m). Descend to Brunissard.
From Ville Vielle we start a very different walk where we cross small hamlets and shepherds huts. We start the day with a climb to the hamlet of Meyries (1700m) and Souliers (1800m), the track then continues in a wild valley as we get back on the GR58 to the col du Tronchet (2347m). From here we will descend to Brunissard following the wild winter sky touring way, with a nice mix of flower meadows and forest. Ascent: 1150m Descent: 770m Distance: 14km
Ascend the col des Ourdeis (2420m) before descending to Cervieres.
Today we walk near to the initial point closing the loop. First we climb to the col des Ourdeis (2420m) following the winter ski touring track near the col d'Izoard which is a famous part of the Tour de France. At the col we get to a magnificent horseshoe at the foot of the Grand Peygu mountain (2796m) before descending to the plateau of Percagne. On the way we pass some authentic alpine chalets used by local farmers. The pleasant walk down to Le Laus is through the forest of Loubatieres. We spend the night in a two star hotel called d'Izoard in Cervieres. Ascent: 782m Descent: 902m Distance: 13km
