Walk the rugged and dramatic Costa da Morte in the Spanish region of Galicia!
8 dagen vanaf € 0,- (excl. vlucht)

Food

  • On this trip all breakfasts are included. Breakfasts in Spain usually consist of coffee with milk, toast with ham, olive oil, tomatoes, cheese and butter and jam. Bakery items such as pastries, fruit and juice are also popular. During this trip you can expect different variations of breakfast at the three hotels we stay at but they will all include at least some of the standard breakfast items that are popular in Spain. As this is a walking trip in an untouched area of Spain with relatively little tourism, lunch options throughout the week can vary and will be determined and discussed with the group by your leader. These will include options to order picnics, self-cater from local shops and markets and where possible to visit local cafes/restaurants along the way. In restaurants you can normally find set menus for a set price from 10 to 20 euros or eat 'a la carte' for similar prices. Portions and meal sizes are usually very generous. All meals can be accompanied by the local Albariño and Riveiro white wines from the region and meals are usually finished with locally homemade liquors. Regional specialties in Galicia include fish and shellfish, red meat (especially beef), small green peppers, octopus, vegetable soups (made with the hock from ham) and various types of home grown vegetables. Barnacles, cockles and mussels are also found along the coast and feature prominently in dishes. Vegetarians can be catered for, however as this region is known for its meat and seafood dishes, flexibility is needed as you may encounter some difficulty in finding a large variety of choices in dishes.

Galicia's impressive Costa da Morte offers rugged coastlines, dramatic cliffs dotted with lighthouses and remarkable virgin landscapes facing the challenging Atlantic Ocean. Watch sunsets from pristine beaches and cliffs, taste fresh seafood and other local delicacies and trek through traditional Galician villages. This unique walking holiday will culminate at the most western point of Europe, Cabo de Fisterra; known for thousands of years as the end of the world! The last part of the trip visits the Galician capital of Santiago de Compostela, the end of the famous 'Camino de Santiago' pilgrimage walk; a perfect location to finish the week after walking the coastal paths of Galicia.
