    Diamanté diamond trail Brazil

There were a group of five of us on this trip. Tiago our group leader is a legend, organised the trip seamlessly and with good humour and professionally. We had great weather most of the walking is straightforward , the last two days are Boulder hopping, great fun. The ability to go swimming two or three times a day was an unforgettable experience. Salvador is a joy, fantastic colours, old Portuguese style not to be missed.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Swimming in the crystal clear underground pools, seeing humming birds close up or walking to the edge of a huge waterfall, or seeing the sunset over the mountains, or the last meal in Lencois. Take your pick.

What did you think of your group leader?

A legend, extremely knowledgeable about all the geology, wildlife, ancient tales and stories, local food. Lovely jubbly!

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Is there anything else you would like to add?

The accommodation on this trip was fantastic in incredibly beautiful surroundings and comfortable. The walking was varied every day from wide open vistas to narrow gorges and waterfalls, stunning flowers and colourful birds. This trip has it all.

    On Brazil's Diamond Trails

A wonderful walking trip through some superb scenery. We saw many stunning waterfalls and swam in many of the pools. The pink rocks gave the waterfalls a really beautiful look.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Crossing the plateau on day 6. The landscape was big and bold - unforgettable. The Poço Azul was also utterly stunning, as was snorkelling in Poço Encantado.

What did you think of your group leader?

Tiago was a terrific leader. He was so enthusiastic about the Chapada and he knew a lot about the flora and fauna. He conveyed his deep love of this region to us and was great company.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

The trip notes make clear that Day 8 is tough. But it is really tough. We were hit by bad weather on the last 2 days of the trip and the rain made the rock-hopping treacherous. I turned back after an hour - something I've never done before. However, Tiago made arrangements for an alternative, easier walk for those of us who didn't do the big waterfall walk, so it all worked out okay. There definitely needs to be an alternative walk offered for this day. Also, you need to be prepared to wade through water - often!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

The itinerary on the last 2 days of walking needs tweeking. They are very big, tough days involving lots of rock-hopping and in inclement weather lots of falls are inevitable. But I won't forget my time in the Chapada, a remote and beautiful region of Brazil. The walking was mostly wonderful and the company was excellent. There were only 6 of us, which made for an ideal group. The accommodation was very good throughout. Lençois was a charming town with lots of nice restaurants and very safe.
