I grew up in mountain huts and tents during the summer, travelling with my geologist mother, accompanying her on her research trips throughout the highlands of Iceland. Whenever there was a volcanic eruption, the family would also go on an expedition to investigate. It was therefore inevitable for me to become a naturalist and I have a MS degree in environmental and natural sciences, and I am now planning a Phd in geology. My work experience includes working as a specialist for the Soil Conservation Service and the Environmental Agency of Iceland in National Park management. Like many Icelanders I am also a folk musician on the side. I have been a tour guide for several years and I love the job because it gives me the chance to travel with guest from all over the world and share with them the wonders of Iceland’s nature and culture.
