Route 21 daagse rondreis Mera Peak Climb

A tough but rewarding expedition, which takes us away from the trails leading to Everest Base Camp to the sparsely-inhabited Hinku Valley. We walk through a beautiful high alpine environment, where Mera Peak, the highest trekking peak in Nepal at 6461m, towers over the valley. The ascent is a fairly non-technical climb, which anyone with ice-axe and crampon experience can attempt. With good acclimatisation and plenty of willpower, you can reach the summit of this beautiful Himalayan peak. At the summit we are rewarded with amazing views of five of the six highest mountains in the world - Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu: which makes all the hard work worthwhile.

  1. Dag 1 - Start Kathmandu.
  2. Dag 2 - Free in Kathmandu for sightseeing and pre trek briefing and gear checks.
  3. Dag 3 - Short but spectacular mountain flight to Lukla; trek to Piuyan.
  4. Dag 4 - Leave the main trail and climb through lush farmland to Pangkongma.
  5. Dag 5 - Cross the Pangkongma La. Descend to the Hinku Khola and ascend the valley to Nashing Dingma.
  6. Dag 6 - A steep climb to the Surkye La and then descend to Chholem.
  7. Dag 7 - Climb to Panch Pokhari Lakes and descend to Khola Kharka.
  8. Dag 8 - Follow the Hinku Valley to Kote.

  12. Dag 12 - Acclimatisation at Khare. Gear check and practice with ice axes and crampons and walking roped up.
  13. Dag 13 - A short but hard day ascending steeply in snow to the Mera La.
  14. Dag 14 - Trek up to High Camp at 5800m. Preparation for tomorrow's climb.
  15. Dag 15 - Climb Mera Central Peak (6461m).
  16. Dag 16 - An easier walk as we retrace our steps through Tangnag to Kote.
